Well i started up the Demo and not mentioning the forced touch gameplay that could totally be done with the buttons i started up the first level. God Eaters just has you being revived constantly and basically has infinite healing, yay. You can't just block in the middle of a swing and a mistake will certainly feel that way. The combat is also very demanding in that it does require you get an, at least, basic sense of what the monster's attack patterns are and there's weight to your attacks. Monster Hunter has a crafting system that matters and allows for some pretty nifty skills as well. (And most of those materials don't even drop from enemies but are found on the map) In God Eater the only time you're really looking for materials is if you want new, purely cosmetic, clothes. Sure, Monster Hunter has this too, but with monster hunter you get materials that are worth something. The game also features a lot of 'filler sections' where you're forced to fight monsters you've fought a dozen times before, before it lets you progress. I had to push through to see the story to it's end due to most fights being quite boring for a 3rd time. P The story is regrettably paper thin and progression feels a lot more grindy than MH. The only thing it has going for it are the artstyle and the theme. It lacks a good crafting system, it's main feature is a bullet customization system that's poorly explained (And useless if you don't want to use ranged often) and the combat is far from visceral and you barely need to learn enemies to defeat them. God Eater was a nice distraction, but it's no Monster Hunter. Modding Vitas can be dangerous and the moderators at /r/Vita are not responsible for bricked or broken consoles.
